(May 21, 2013) The Speedway Motors Midwest Region comes back to life this Memorial Day week, pairing Thursday, May 23 with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by MAVTV American Real at the I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb. plus a standalone night at the Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, Neb. on Friday, May 24.
Representing the thirtieth visit to the four-tenths mile oval, the I-80 Speedway for years has stood with Brian Brown as the driver to beat, having topped the Midwest Region 11 times in the regions past 29 visits.
Billy Alley and Jack Dover are the only other repeat winners at the high speed oval with six wins split evenly between them.
Thursday, May 23 at the I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb. is slated to begin at 7:15 P.M. (CT) with grandstand gates opening at 5:30 P.M. More information on the I-80 Speedway can be found at http://www.i-80speedway.com or by calling (402) 342-3453.
Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction sits only a few miles west of the I-80 Speedway and, like the Greenwood oval, demands a driver’s attention.
The three-eighths mile oval can be very unforgiving to the slightest mistake but offers a surface that typically is slick and smooth.
In 15 prior visits by the Speedway Motors Midwest Region dating back to 2005, a total of 10 drivers have earned victories with Brian Brown again leading the way with four wins.
